India is third in Google’s record for data removal requests

Internet Mejor Google has ranked India third for sending data removal requests for censoring information.

This is the first time that a Search Engine like Google has published a country wise list of the number of requests received from Government seeking their removal of information.

According to the list, Google received maximum number of requests from Brazil, followed by Germany and India. For Brazil and India, requests for content removal are high relative to the other countries in part because of the popularity of our social networking websites Orkut.

Other countries in the list are South Korea, United Kingdom, Argentina, Spain and Canada. Brazil is at the top in terms of seeking data while India secures fourth position.
